Smoking Cessation in Developing Countries: Challenges and Recommendations

  • Yaser Mohammed Al-Worafi

摘要

Smoking cessation in developing countries is a pressing public health concern. This chapter discussed the challenges, recommendations, and strategies for promoting smoking cessation in these regions. The challenges include limited awareness, cultural influences, accessibility and affordability issues, tobacco industry influence, and limited healthcare infrastructure. To address these challenges, recommendations include comprehensive tobacco control policies, public awareness campaigns, integration of cessation support in healthcare services, culturally tailored interventions, mobile health technologies, and collaboration among stakeholders. Additionally, research capacity building, targeted interventions for vulnerable populations, and sustainable funding are crucial. Implementing these recommendations can contribute to reducing smoking prevalence and improving the overall health and well-being of populations in developing countries.
