Interprofessional Practice in Developing Countries

Interprofessional practice (IPP) in health care is crucial for providing comprehensive, patient-centered care and addressing the complex health needs of individuals and communities. While the importance of IPP is widely recognized, its implementation in developing countries faces unique challenges. This chapter discussed the rationality and importance of IPP, the facilitators and barriers encountered, the required skills and competencies, and the achievements made in developing countries. It also provides recommendations for promoting and enhancing IPP in healthcare settings in developing countries. These recommendations encompass education and training, policy changes, interdisciplinary collaboration, research, community engagement, and resource allocation. Implementing these recommendations will help overcome challenges and foster a culture of collaboration, leading to improved healthcare outcomes and strengthened healthcare systems.
