Obesity is a growing concern in developing countries, with its prevalence and associated health risks on the rise. This chapter discussed the causes, risk factors, and consequences of obesity, as well as the rationality and importance of weight management. It explores the skills and competencies required for effective weight management, with a specific focus on the role of healthcare professionals in obesity prevention and treatment. The chapter highlights the unique challenges faced by developing countries in combating obesity and discusses research, prevalence, prevention, and management strategies. It also identifies achievements, challenges, and recommendations for addressing obesity in developing countries.
