Malnutrition in Developing Countries
摘要
Malnutrition remains a pressing issue in developing countries, affecting a significant portion of the population, particularly children, pregnant women, and the elderly. This chapter provides an overview of malnutrition in developing countries, including its prevalence, causes, risk factors, achievements, quality of interventions, challenges, and recommendations. The prevalence of malnutrition, including undernutrition, stunting, wasting, and micronutrient deficiencies, is higher in developing countries due to factors such as poverty, food insecurity, limited access to nutritious foods, and inadequate healthcare. Despite some achievements in addressing malnutrition, challenges persist, including limited resources, weak healthcare systems, and social and cultural barriers. The chapter provides comprehensive recommendations, including integrated approaches, strengthening healthcare systems, nutrition education, community-based programs, and partnerships, to effectively address malnutrition in developing countries.
