Pharmacogenomics in Developing Countries
摘要
Pharmacogenomics, the study of how an individual’s genetic makeup influences drug response, has gained significant attention in healthcare. This chapter explores the status of pharmacogenomics research and implementation in developing countries. It highlights the achievements, challenges, and recommendations specific to these settings. The achievements include understanding genetic diversity, identifying population-specific markers, and building research and clinical capacity. However, challenges such as limited resources, ethical considerations, and barriers to access and affordability persist. The recommendations encompass collaboration, capacity building, policy development, data sharing, and targeted research funding. By implementing these recommendations, developing countries can overcome challenges and leverage the benefits of pharmacogenomics to improve healthcare outcomes, reduce adverse drug reactions, and enhance personalized medicine approaches.
