Pharmacoeconomics in Developing Countries

  • Yaser Mohammed Al-Worafi

摘要

In developing countries, pharmacoeconomics research has achieved significant milestones in demonstrating the cost-effectiveness of interventions and influencing policy decisions. However, quality challenges and unique obstacles must be addressed to maximize its impact. This chapter discusses the achievements, quality considerations, challenges, and recommendations for pharmacoeconomics in developing countries. Key achievements include showcasing cost-effectiveness and influencing policy, while quality considerations focus on data availability and rigor. Challenges encompass limited resources and capacity, requiring targeted interventions. Recommendations include stakeholder engagement, capacity building, collaborations, and policy integration. Additional recommendations include local data generation, cost-containment strategies, and health equity analysis. Implementation of these recommendations will strengthen pharmacoeconomics research in developing countries and improve healthcare decision-making and resource allocation.
