Health Literacy and Diseases Management

  • Yaser Mohammed Al-Worafi

摘要

Health literacy plays a crucial role in disease management, particularly in developing countries. This chapter explores the achievements, challenges, and recommendations for improving health literacy in disease management within these contexts. While there have been accomplishments in raising awareness and implementing localized interventions, challenges such as limited access to information, language and cultural barriers, and low health literacy awareness persist. To address these challenges, recommendations include health education, clear communication, technology adoption, community involvement, collaboration, tailored approaches for vulnerable populations, training for healthcare providers, and monitoring and evaluation. Moreover, integration of traditional medicine, policy advocacy, public awareness campaigns, collaboration with educational institutions, and ensuring long-term sustainability are also vital. By implementing these recommendations, developing countries can enhance health literacy about disease management, empowering individuals to make informed decisions and improving overall health outcomes.
