Renal Dialysis in Developing Countries
摘要
Renal dialysis plays a crucial role in managing end-stage renal disease (ESRD) in developing countries, where access to quality healthcare can be limited. This chapter provides an overview of the achievements, challenges, and recommendations related to renal dialysis in these resource-constrained settings. Achievements: Developing countries have made strides in increasing awareness of kidney disease, expanding dialysis services, and garnering government commitment to renal care. International collaborations and partnerships have facilitated knowledge transfer and resource donations, contributing to the improvement of renal care infrastructure. Challenges: Despite these achievements, challenges persist. High treatment costs remain a formidable barrier for many, resulting in inequitable access to dialysis. Shortages of skilled healthcare personnel, limited medication accessibility, and infrastructure deficiencies continue to affect the quality and availability of care. Recommendations: To address these challenges, comprehensive strategies are needed. Healthcare financing reforms, including subsidies and public–private partnerships, can enhance affordability. Workforce development initiatives and medication accessibility programs can mitigate shortages and cost barriers. Infrastructure improvements and telehealth expansion can extend the reach of dialysis services to underserved areas. Patient education, community support, and quality improvement efforts are essential for optimizing outcomes.
