Patient Safety: Overview

Patient safety is a pressing issue in developing countries, with unique challenges and opportunities for improvement. This research review examines achievements, quality, challenges, and recommendations to enhance patient safety in these settings. Despite progress in awareness, policy frameworks, and capacity building, resource constraints, inadequate data systems, and cultural factors hinder patient safety. To overcome these challenges, strengthening healthcare systems, promoting a culture of safety, improving data collection and reporting, addressing socioeconomic factors, engaging patients and families, implementing evidence-based practices, leveraging technology, and fostering international collaboration are essential. These measures can lead to safer healthcare practices and improved patient outcomes in developing countries.
