Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) in Developing Countries

Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) pose a significant healthcare challenge in developing countries. While progress has been made, challenges such as limited resources, underreporting, and inadequate pharmacovigilance systems persist. This chapter reviews the achievements, challenges, and recommendations for ADR management in developing countries. The achievements include increased awareness, the establishment of pharmacovigilance systems, and capacity building efforts. However, challenges like limited resources, access to quality medicines, and cultural considerations hinder effective ADR management. Recommendations encompass strengthening pharmacovigilance systems, improving ADR reporting and monitoring, enhancing regulatory frameworks, promoting collaboration, and investing in public awareness and education. Successful ADR management requires multi-faceted approaches, collaborative efforts, and tailored strategies to address the unique challenges faced in developing countries.
