Evidence-Based Medicine in Dentistry

Evidence-based dentistry (EBD) is an important approach to oral healthcare that integrates the best available scientific evidence, clinical expertise, and patient values. While EBD in developing countries faces challenges related to limited resources and research infrastructure, significant achievements have been made. Improved treatment outcomes, increased awareness, and local research contributions are noteworthy. Quality enhancement measures include access to high-quality evidence and adherence to rigorous methodologies. However, challenges remain, including language barriers and limited research infrastructure. Recommendations for promoting EBD in developing countries include capacity building, collaboration, translation of evidence, patient engagement, and support from international organizations. Addressing these challenges and implementing these recommendations will enhance EBD practices and contribute to improved oral health outcomes in developing countries.
