This chapter provides an overview of medical/health insurance in developing countries, focusing on the challenges, strategies, and recommendations to maximize its benefits. Developing countries face unique socioeconomic and healthcare challenges that affect the accessibility and affordability of health insurance. The chapter discusses the importance of universal coverage, affordability, primary healthcare expansion, provider network development, health infrastructure enhancement, and health education. Other recommendations include transparency, tailored insurance products, financial literacy, collaboration with community organizations, research and innovation, regulatory frameworks, public-private partnerships, continuous adaptation, and international collaboration. Implementing these recommendations can improve healthcare access, financial protection, and health outcomes in developing countries.
