Medicine Availability and Affordability in Developing Countries

  • Yaser Mohammed Al-Worafi

摘要

Ensuring medicine availability and affordability in developing countries is a critical global health challenge. Limited resources, weak healthcare infrastructure, high treatment costs, and other factors contribute to inadequate access to essential medicines in these regions. Extensive research has shed light on the factors influencing medicine availability and affordability, identified interventions, and highlighted challenges. Key recommendations include price regulation, promoting generic medicines, strengthening healthcare systems, supporting local manufacturing, implementing rational medicine use strategies, and exploring innovative financing models. Collaboration, capacity building, and policy reforms are crucial for sustainable progress. Tailoring interventions to specific country contexts and continuous monitoring and evaluation are essential. By implementing these recommendations, stakeholders can work toward bridging the gap in medicine availability and affordability, improving health outcomes, and promoting social and economic well-being in developing countries.
