This literature review examines the causes, prevalence, and impact of burnout among healthcare professionals in developing countries as well as the challenges faced in diagnosing and addressing this issue. It highlights the need for comprehensive strategies that address individual, organizational, and systemic factors. Recommendations include workload management, mental health support services, supportive work environments, and work-life balance initiatives. Collaborative efforts involving healthcare organizations, government bodies, professional associations, and international partners are crucial for sustainable change. Research and ongoing evaluation are essential for understanding the unique challenges faced by healthcare professionals in developing countries and identifying effective interventions. By implementing these recommendations, healthcare systems in developing countries can foster a supportive environment, reduce burnout, and improve the well-being of healthcare professionals, leading to better patient outcomes and sustainable healthcare systems.
