Community Services by Pharmacy Schools in Developing Countries

  • Yaser Mohammed Al-Worafi

摘要

Community services provided by pharmacy schools in developing countries play a crucial role in addressing healthcare challenges, improving access to medications, and promoting public health. This chapter explores the rationality, importance, examples, facilitators, barriers, and recommendations for community services by pharmacy schools in developing countries. Pharmacy schools collaborate with local healthcare systems, receive government support, and secure funding to deliver services such as medication counseling, health screenings, immunizations, and health education campaigns. However, they face barriers, including limited resources, inadequate infrastructure, regulatory constraints, and cultural barriers. To enhance community services, pharmacy schools can strengthen partnerships, advocate for policy changes, secure sustainable funding, emphasize education and training, engage the community, leverage technology, promote research, and foster student leadership. Implementing these recommendations empowers pharmacy schools to make a significant impact on community health and well-being.
