Continuous Medical Education in Developing Countries: Public Health Education

Continuous medical education (CME) plays a vital role in public health education in developing countries, aiming to improve the knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals. Despite challenges such as limited resources and access, CME programs have achieved notable accomplishments in these settings. Achievements include enhanced knowledge and skills, improved disease prevention and control, strengthened public health systems, and empowered community workers. However, challenges such as limited resources, access and equity issues, language barriers, and sustainability concerns persist. Recommendations for enhancing CME in public health education in developing countries include increased funding, infrastructure development, localization of content, strengthened accreditation systems, collaboration and partnerships, research and data generation, mentorship and support, and advocacy. Implementing these recommendations can contribute to improved healthcare outcomes and the development of a competent healthcare workforce.
