Continuous Medical Education in Developing Countries: Nursing Education
摘要
Continuous medical education (CME) is vital for nursing education in both developed and developing countries. This chapter focuses on the achievements, challenges, and recommendations specifically related to CME in nursing education in developing countries. The achievements of CME in these settings include increased access to education, collaboration and partnerships, specialized training programs, integration of technology, local capacity building, recognition of informal learning, knowledge translation, empowerment, and professional development. However, several challenges persist, such as limited resources, infrastructure constraints, cultural barriers, lack of faculty and expertise, recognition and accreditation issues, socioeconomic factors, and systemic issues. To address these challenges, recommendations include increased investment, technology infrastructure development, culturally relevant programs, faculty development and support, standardization and accreditation, collaborations and partnerships, community-based learning, and advocacy for policy reforms. Implementing these recommendations will strengthen CME in nursing education in developing countries, ensuring access to quality education, continuous professional development, and improved patient outcomes.
