Online Dentistry Education in Developing Countries

The history of dentistry education is almost as ancient as the history of humanity and civilization with the earliest evidence dating from 7000 BC to 5500 BC. Online dentistry education has evolved over the past few decades, driven by advances in technology and the increasing demand for more accessible and convenient learning opportunities. Online medical education plays an important role nowadays; it provides many opportunities to the students and healthcare professionals. Importance of distance and online education has been increased during the last decades, especially after 2019. Online education and learning had/has great impact on the continuous of teaching and learning cycle in medical education worldwide; save the medical and health sciences schools from close for at least one year because of lockdown after COVID-19 pandemic. This chapter covers the history, importance, advantages, and disadvantages of online dentistry education. Moreover, it includes the achievements and challenges of online dentistry education in the developing countries.
