Admission to Medical and Health Sciences in Developing Countries

Admission to medical and health sciences programs in developing countries is a complex process with challenges that impact equitable access. This chapter explores the challenges faced by aspiring students, such as limited educational resources, financial barriers, geographical disparities, sociocultural factors, inadequate preparation, and insufficient support systems. To address these challenges and promote equitable access, recommendations are provided, including increasing investment in education, expanding scholarships and financial aid, enhancing premedical education, bridging geographical disparities, promoting gender equality, diversifying admission criteria, establishing support systems, and strengthening partnerships. By implementing these recommendations, developing countries can create an inclusive and accessible environment for aspiring students to pursue their aspirations in the field of medical and health sciences.
