Catheter-Directed Therapy for Acute Pulmonary Embolism

Interventional treatment of acute pulmonary embolism has become popular over the last few years. The clinical use of catheter-based thrombolysis and catheter thrombectomy has outpaced the data supporting their use. Most patients being chosen for interventional therapy present with intermediate-high or high-risk pulmonary embolism. This chapter discusses the currently available interventional therapies with available evidence for their use, patient selection, and detailed techniques.
