The areas of dementia and the economy are interlinked in many ways today. As a result of the aging population and the increase in the number of people suffering from dementia, more and more attention is being paid to the economic aspects and costs associated with dementia. Insight into the economics of dementia highlights the complex interplay between healthcare costs, informal caregiving, and long-term care systems. The costs of dementia are therefore far higher than the costs of medical treatment and social care alone. Current trends show that the number of people with dementia and the annual costs of dementia care will increase, which is particularly important information for national decision-makers in the field of health and social care. In the future, the care of people with dementia must be addressed holistically and established as one of the strategic priorities of the public health system. Particular attention must also be paid to creating a dementia-friendly environment and raising awareness of dementia in the wider community. In our scientific chapter with a literature review, we offer new theoretical and conceptual insights, particularly in the area of economic and cost-related aspects of dementia.

摘要
