Digital Divide
摘要
This chapter examines the digital divide and its impact on the implementation of e-governance initiatives in Bangladesh. Despite significant progress in digital infrastructure development, Bangladesh faces substantial challenges in bridging the gap between those who have access to information and communication technologies (ICTs) and those who do not. The chapter explores various dimensions of the digital divide, including access to technology, digital literacy, and socio-economic factors. It explores the current state of e-governance in Bangladesh, highlighting both achievements and challenges. It further investigates key issues such as inadequate infrastructure, limited Internet penetration, lack of digital skills, and socio-cultural barriers. Additionally, it discusses policy interventions and strategies to overcome these challenges to ensure inclusive e-governance. By synthesizing existing research studies, this chapter provides a comprehensive overview of the digital divide landscape in Bangladesh and its implications for the successful implementation of e-governance initiatives.
