From Individual Change to Collective Transformation for Social Equality
摘要
This chapter looks at inequality through a multidisciplinary prism which addresses life as the result of twice four dimensions. It is anchored in the understanding that individual well-being is the cause and consequence of collective well-being; whilst both are conditioned by the level of social (in)equality. Individual experiences and expressions result from a composition of aspirations, emotions, thoughts, and sensations. This internal dynamic reflects the organic kaleidoscope in which humans evolve. Deriving from individual interactions (micro), communities and institutions (meso), countries and economies (macro), nature, and supranational entities (meta), this setting constantly changes. Humans across cultures and continents, beyond borders and generations, operate within this multidimensional m4-matrix. Anchored in the multidisciplinary POZE paradigm (Perspective-Optimization-Zeniths-Exposure), we show (i) that social equality underpins sustainable planetary prosperity; and (ii) why it requires the gradual optimization of the manifold dimensions that influence human life in society. Pointing out the horizontal and vertical benefits of inclusive prosocial action at the individual and collective levels, this chapter offers a perspective that moves beyond differentiation and positive discrimination toward a shared space of common ground. The central message of this chapter is not that the world would be better if humans were different. Rather it offers pointers on how a few people who do not only realize the necessity of change but move beyond understanding to action can make a difference for many people. When everything is connected within a complementary continuum of constant change, the latter begins at the core of the center—the aspiration of individuals for an inclusive society.
