(North) Macedonia is considered to be one of the poorest countries in Europe. This chapter offers an overview of the sources and data on social poverty in the country that have been made publically available since 2020. The first purpose is to locate the main sources of knowledge production on poverty in the country. Therefore, the data published by both domestic institutions (State Statistical Office, Governments Institutions, and Nongovernmental Organizations) and international institutions (World Bank, UN, Poverty Watch) are aggregated, and assessed in order to determine what the available evidence tells us about income inequality in the country, its structural origins, and its consequences across different sections of society. The second purpose is to examine the relationship between poverty and poverty metrics, exploring how these frameworks influence the interpretation of poverty and the available responses in the country.

摘要
