The Impact of Government Aid to Families with Dependent Children on Poverty Rates in European Union

The purpose: The purpose of the chapter is an attempt to assess the impact of social benefits for families with dependent children on the level of poverty among children in selected countries of the European Union. Methodology: The implementation of the purpose required the use of descriptive and statistical methods, in particular the nonlinear regression method. Dynamic indices were also applied using the numerical values of the variables published by Eurostat for 2010–2022. Results: In the chapter, the essence of the 500+ programs was described against the background of family benefits in the European Union, the level of poverty in Poland, and other selected European Union countries. On the basis of statistical data downloaded from Eurostat databases, an attempt was made to assess the impact of the amount of aid programs on the poverty level among children based on the nonlinear regression method in selected countries of the European Union. Based on dynamics indices, it was obtained whether there was an increase or decrease in poverty rates and social benefits for families with dependent children for selected countries of the European Union in the analyzed period 2010–2022.
