(In)equality of Genders and Pushing the Boundaries – From the Perspective of Hungary

It is quite challenging nowadays to find a balance between work and family life… that is the topic sentence of our research and our studies on the theme of gender inequality. The private sphere of our life are important part of our nowadays. Private life includes the free right to select a partner and have a family, as one of the bases of human rights. But the meaning of family relationships has changed recently because the opinion of the society has also changed. Our study connects to multiple themes, especially human rights and gender inequality and gendered perspectives on the labor market. First of all, we would like to introduce the meaning of family from different perspectives (sociology aspect, legal aspect, etc.), and after that, we would like to analyze what is needed to find a balance between family life and working life. The Hungarian solution—which is the work-based society—has a unique and complex resolution because the government supports both employment and traditional family life. The subsidy system tries to support equality between family life and work, but the basic problems (for example, the gender roles of the persons or the differences between men and women’s work) are discovered. Our goal is to adumbrate the international aspect of this theme, and we would like to introduce the Hungarian solution to this topic as an example.
