Lower limb muscle injuries represent a significant challenge in sports medicine, with hamstring injuries being the most prevalent and with high burden impact. Despite advancements in understanding injury mechanisms and rehabilitation strategies, the rates of recurrence remain high, especially in professional football. This chapter addresses the multifactorial nature of muscle injuries, highlighting the necessity for evidence-based rehabilitation and return-to-sport (RTS) practices. A holistic, dynamic, and criterion-based approach is advocated, emphasizing neuromuscular reconditioning and the integration of sport-specific training into rehabilitation protocols. Key components discussed include individualization of recovery plans, effective use of functional and isolated strength exercises, and the role of optimal loading during all rehabilitation phases. Strategies to enhance movement quality, mitigate reinjury risks, and improve athletic performance postrehabilitation are explored. By bridging the gap between research and implementation, we provide a comprehensive framework aimed at reducing the physical, financial, and psychological burden of muscle injuries in sport.
