摘要

Injuries to the medial side of the knee are the most common traumatic knee injuries reported in sports medicine and orthopedic surgery. The main structure of the medial side of the knee is the medial collateral ligament. Historically, these injuries have been treated conservatively with a high rate of good results; however, in certain scenarios: (1) high probability of not healing (distal medial collateral ligament injury, combined medial side injuries, and multiligament knee injuries); (2) injuries that would benefit from an acute intervention, such as bony avulsions and distal tibial entrapment (Stener-like lesion); and (3) chronic unstable injuries, a surgical treatment should be indicated to obtain the desired outcomes.
