Olecranon Fractures
摘要
Olecranon fractures accounts for approximately 10% of elbow fractures and can be seen in a wide variety from simple transverse fractures to complex fracture dislocations. Since all are related to the ulnohumeral articular surface, their treatment requires mostly surgical intervention. Surgical options include the tension band wiring, plate fixation, intramedullary fixation, and advancement of the triceps with excision of the fracture fragment. Olecranon fractures show favorable outcomes in the majority of patients with adequate fixation and early rehabilitation. Understanding the mechanism of injury, fracture type, and anatomy plays an important role to avoid potential problems. Elbow stiffness and osteoarthritis are inevitable complications when proper joint repair is not provided. The purpose of this chapter is to give information about the nature of the olecranon fractures and discuss the treatment options and its complications.
