Scapular Fracture
摘要
Fracture of the scapula is among the rarest injuries seen in the emergency department. However, the incidence of scapula fractures has increased recently during high-contact sports and motorsports. Therefore, establishing a precise diagnosis of the scapula fracture and the associated injuries plays a pivotal role in managing these patients. Moreover, understanding the osseous anatomy of the scapula combined with the muscular attachments contributes to the choice of the most suitable treatment plan. Recently published studies debate on the treatment of scapular body fractures, scapular neck fractures, glenoid rim, and floating shoulder injuries. The purpose of this chapter is to improve the understanding of scapular fractures and to revise the traditional opinions on the anatomy of the scapula, the diagnostic procedures, the classification, and the treatment approach of these injuries.
