Distal Radius Fractures

Distal radius fractures are one of the most recognizable and commonly encountered extremity orthopedic injuries. In this chapter, we review the epidemiology of distal radius fractures, the relevant anatomy and biomechanics of the wrist, and the risk factors associated with this fracture. Important considerations in physical exam and imaging studies will be highlighted. Finally, both nonoperative and operative treatment strategies will be discussed, along with recommendations for postoperative rehabilitation, outcomes, and common complications.
