Scaphoid Fractures
摘要
Scaphoid fractures are among the most common wrist injuries seen by health care providers who take care of athletes. However, they are also one of the most challenging injury patterns to manage. Treatment must be tailored to the unique injury characteristics, sport-related demands, and athlete skill level. In professional athletes, balancing the, oftentimes, conflicting interests of the athlete, their team, and/or agent presents an additional challenge. Although there is a relatively higher complication risk with surgical treatment for fracture types that would otherwise heal in a cast, the desire for faster recovery and return to sport with surgery is often a greater priority in this patient population.
