Achilles Tendon Tear
摘要
The incidence of ruptures of the Achilles tendon is increasing. The recent literature comparing operative and nonoperative treatment shows no difference in patient-reported outcome scores but reduced re-rupture rates, less elongation, and minimized weakness of plantar flexion strength. Participants to randomized controlled trials must be happy to receive the allocated form of treatment, and for this reason, patients with high functional activity pre-injury may be excluded. An individualized decision-making process regarding treatment is optimal for sports competitive individuals.
