Quadriceps Tendon Rupture
摘要
The quadriceps tendon rupture is a rare but serious injury requiring prompt diagnosis and treatment. The quadriceps rupture occurs dominantly in male older than 40 years with higher body mass index and underlying comorbidities. Early diagnosis is the key and smaller incomplete tears can be treated conservatively. Complete tears and larger incomplete tears should be surgically repaired using either transosseous suture or suture anchor techniques. Postoperative outcomes are good to excellent when the surgery is performed early after the injury. This chapter provides overview of the quadriceps tendon rupture including epidemiology, anatomy, biomechanics, etiology, diagnosis, conservative/surgical treatments, and outcomes.
