摘要

Imaging plays an important part in the evaluation of the hip joint. After evaluation of patient history and clinical examination, standard radiographs are the first step of the imaging workup of the hip joint, followed by other modalities such as CT, MRI, MR arthrography, or nuclear medicine scans. This chapter describes the imaging findings of femoral head disease such as osteonecrosis or Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease and describes the structural damage that is seen in femoroacetabular impingement and hip osteoarthritis. The role of abnormal femoral torsion is described, and other more rare diseases of the hip such as synovial osteochondromatosis, iliopsoas bursitis, and snapping hip are discussed.
