摘要

The knowledge of normal anatomy and normal variants is essential to accurately evaluate the hip and avoid mistakes, as hip pain is unspecific and might arise from intra-articular and extra-articular disease and it is important. Pelvis radiography is still the first imaging modality, not only for osseous evaluation but also for the evaluation of joint alignment and to rule out tumors, infections, or posttreatment complications. Multidetector CT is the method of choice for the evaluation of pelvis trauma. The pelvis is deeply located and has been always a challenge for MR imaging of small intra-articular structures; advances in MR resolution have allowed exquisite images, with and without intra-articular contrast. US is limited to the evaluation of neonatal hip, to rule out effusion or some superficial tendons, and as guide for interventional procedures. In this chapter, we will review anatomy and how different imaging techniques can depict all the structures.
