Gambling disorder affects 0.4–1.6% of adults worldwide and is highly comorbid with other mental health disorders. With the expansion of opportunities to gamble, gambling disorder has received increased attention from clinicians and researchers. This chapter reviews the phenomenology, neurobiology, genetics, and treatment of gambling disorder. A number of treatment approaches have demonstrated efficacy for gambling disorder (e.g., cognitive behavioral therapy and opioid antagonists). These interventions, as well as variables influencing treatment, will be discussed.
