Special Issues in Assessment
摘要
Assessment in psychiatry is a complex process carried out for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, aimed to describe and measure heterogeneous clinical conditions in different settings. The examination of patient’s mental status is pivotal as well as diagnosis and treatment choices are mostly based on the assessment of psychopathological characteristics. In addition, assessment may be relevant for forensic and medico-legal purposes and may include a multidisciplinary process of evaluation. This chapter will report on the assessment of special issues in psychiatry such as forensic and military settings, as well as special populations including migrants, lesbian-gay-bisexual-transgender (LGBT), or patients affected by post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
