Chemotherapy and Targeted Therapies, Biological Therapies for Renal Cell Carcinoma

The treatment landscape for metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) has changed dramatically over the past two decades. We now have a wide array of treatment options available for use in mRCC including, but not limited to, targeted therapies and immunotherapies. Although these systemic therapies have demonstrated a notable improvement in progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS), there remains room for progress as this disease remains largely incurable. This chapter will review currently used agents as monotherapies and combination therapies, and summarize novel strategies being investigated that will shape the treatment landscape of mRCC.
