Force and Motion

The kind of interaction that accelerates an object is called a force, which could be a push or pull. From now on, we shall use the capital letter \({\overrightarrow{F}}\) (with an arrow over it) to represent a general force vector. In addition, we shall use the symbol \({\Sigma \overrightarrow{F}}\) for the vector sum of several forces, which we call the resultant forceor the net force.
