Blunt pancreatic injuries are uncommon, but they can be life-threatening, especially if not recognized promptly. The imaging findings of pancreatic injury may be difficult to identify due to the complex regional anatomy and frequent associated injury to adjacent organs and structures. The location and type of pancreatic injury and integrity of the pancreatic duct guides management decisions, so the radiologist plays a critical role in evaluation of these patients. This chapter will review the multimodality imaging findings of blunt injury to the pancreas, describe a commonly used classification system to grade pancreatic injuries, and discuss associated complications.
