Surgical Complications of Lung Transplantation

Surgical complications can present at any step of lung transplantation, including organ procurement and the recipient operation. Perioperative surgical complications play a crucial role and actively affect the outcome of the graft and, eventually, will determine the survival of the recipient. This chapter addresses the most relevant surgical perioperative complications in order to provide the transplant surgeon with a comprehensive view of the available strategies to minimize the perioperative risk.
