Donation of the Lungs After Circulatory Death

  • Gaetano Burgio,
  • Paolo Capuano

摘要

The purpose of this chapter is to provide a comprehensive understanding of lung donation after cardiocirculatory death (DCD) and address the confusion and misconceptions surrounding this practice. In the field of transplantation, there is a shortage of lungs available for transplantation, and as a result, the utilization of lungs from DCD donors is becoming more common. The chapter focuses on the revised DCD Maastricht Classification and terminology, which aims to establish a consensus on how to categorize and describe DCD transplantation. This helps to improve communication and understanding within the medical community and society as a whole. Additionally, the chapter reviews both controlled DCD and uncontrolled DCD programs criteria.
