Diseases of Lablab
摘要
Lablab bean (Lablab purpureus L. Sweet) is a versatile legume cultivated widely in Asia, Africa, South Central America, and West Indies. Diseases have a considerable impact on the production of lablab. Among the diseases, Alternaria leaf spot (Alternaria alternata), anthracnose (Colletotrichum lindemuthianum), Cercospora leaf spot (Cercospora spp.), web blight (Rhizoctonia solani), white mold (Sclerotinia sclerotiorum), rust (Uromyces fabae), powdery mildew (Erysiphe polygoni), ashy stem blight (Macrophomina phaseolina), common bacterial blight (Xanthomonas campestris pv. phaseoli), halo blight (Pseudomonas syringae pv. phaseolicola), bacterial brown spot (Pseudomonas syringae pv. syringae), common mosaic (Common Mosaic Virus), and yellow mosaic (Yellow Mosaic Virus) are commonly found. Many of these diseases infect more than one legume crop and are of significant concern. Some are transmitted through the seed, while others are through the soil, air, water, and/or insect vectors. General management options of diseases may include planting pathogen-free seeds, adjusting crop production practices, controlling virus vectors, spraying fungicides, and planting disease-resistant crops. These measures effectively minimize the occurrence and spread of destructive lablab diseases.
