摘要

Skeletal scintigraphy or bone scan using bone-seeking radiotracers fundamentally detects reactive increased bone formation due to bone metastases. However, planar bone scan has limitations in detecting bone metastases due to the nonspecific uptake of radiotracer in benign bone diseases leading to low specificity. Focused bone SPECT/CT is helpful in the accurate localization and characterization of tracer uptake in the bones for improved specificity. Whole-body SPECT/CT increases the sensitivity. In this chapter, we elaborated role of bone SPECT/CT scan in diagnosis of bone metastases.
