Epidemiology of Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is a common systemic disease affecting bone strength and increases the risk of fractures. This chapter reviews the prevalence, trends, and risk factors associated with osteoporosis and fragility fractures. Key risk factors associated with bone loss and fractures are discussed, including patient characteristics, lifestyle factors, past medical history, and medications.
