Ediacaran‒Fortunian Palaeontological Record in the Iberian Peninsula
摘要
The Ediacaran–Fortunian palaeontological record of the Iberian Peninsula consists of organic-walled microfossils, skeletal fossils, trace fossils, non-mineralized tubular fossils and carbonaceous compressions. This record is particularly well developed within the Central Iberian Zone, where the most complete sedimentary succession across the Ediacaran–Cambrian transition is found. A remarkable facet of the Iberian Ediacaran fossil record is the only European occurrences of Cloudina and other late Ediacaran skeletal microfossils. True Ediacara-type fossils are still missing. The oldest fossils in the Iberian Peninsula are organic-walled microfossils (genus Tanarium) from the Ossa-Morena Zone.
