Evolution of Species

摘要

Our perception of intelligence is tightly integrated with life and living organisms. In the previous chapter, we looked at various processes that led to the origin of life on Earth in the form of single-celled organisms. Routine cellular operations do not show much in the form of intelligence. It is only when we start looking at the actions of complex multicellular organisms such as animals and birds and even aquatic species that intelligent behavior starts to surface. It is not just a coincidence, and intelligence is indeed deeply rooted in the biological structure of the species that exhibit it. Hence, in order to fully appreciate the concept of intelligence, we need to learn about these organisms and how they came into existence. In this chapter, we will dive deeper into the topic of life and look at how the life that originated on the Earth culminated into the creation of complex species such as humans containing trillions of cells.
