Understand Your Service API

Whether you are creating or consuming an API, you must understand all its implications. If you are the consumer, it is up to you to understand what calling its various functions will do. If you are creating an API, you also have a responsibility to your consumers. I will not go into all the rules here but will touch on two very severe problems that I have personally experienced in my professional life.
