The neonatal intensive care unitNeonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) (NICU) is an intensive care nursery that specializes in the care of ill and/or premature infants. These infants are fragile and sensitive to their environments, including light, sound, heat and cold. The goal of this study was to reduce light exposure for the newborns within the NICU setting. The LSS DMAICDefine, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control (DMAIC) methodology was applied to identify improvements to reduce and minimize newborns’ light exposure, which can help improve their healing.
